The renewable energy industry was well represented yesterday at the The Future Jobs & Skills Expo – “Pathways to Your Future” at Burnie. Representatives from Hydro Tasmania, Project Marinus and UPC\AC Renewables Australia were on hand to talk about the types of jobs that will be created by the construction and operation of  these projects.

The Tasmanian Energy Industry Workforce Development Plan 2020 – 2027 (Stage 1) identified the jobs and skill sets that will be in demand as major project get underway – and it’s not just electricians!

For example, recent Tasmanian wind farm construction projects have reported difficulty in securing:
– Project Managers
– Grade A Electricians
– Quality, Health, Safety and Environment Professionals
– Installation Managers, Supervisors and Technicians
– Electricians and Supervisors with high voltage experience
– Trades in general with wind turbine generator experience
– Estimators
– Document Controllers
