Tasmania’s Cradle Coast Region is home to iconic species, natural landscapes and Tasmania’s Wilderness World Heritage Area. There are 20 diverse river catchments, fertile and productive agricultural land, and rich and extensive Aboriginal cultural landscapes.

As one of three natural resource management (NRM) organisations in Tasmania (and 54 in Australia), the role of Cradle Coast NRM is to protect, sustainably manage and improve natural resources by actively working with communities to ensure a healthy future for the region. Our work is guided by our 2030 NRM Strategy for Cradle Coast Tasmania and incorporates Biodiversity-themed action to protect and maintain the region’s high-value habitat for threatened species, important biodiversity areas and ecological communities.

We are currently recruiting for a NRM Field Officer to implement on-ground projects, engage with stakeholders and support sustainable land, water and biodiversity projects in our region. This position involves physically demanding work in remote and isolated locations and varying weather conditions and terrains. Key responsibilities include:

  • Delivering on-ground NRM services, including field surveys, sampling and analysis, monitoring and reporting
  • Supporting weed and feral cat control activities, including on Bass Strait islands
  • Taking part in planting activity at revegetation sites
  • Supporting community engagement activity and events

The position is offered for a fixed term of 12 months (option to extend) on a negotiable basis with a base salary up to $75,000 per annum, dependent on the successful applicant’s knowledge, skills and abilities.
