About the project

The second phase of the Tasmanian Cat Management Project was completed in September of 2025, with a focus on engagement with the Tasmanian community to promote responsible cat ownership including desexing, microchipping, and containing pet cats indoors.

The program aimed to facilitate responsible cat ownership and appropriate management of stray and roaming cats in the Tasmanian community, and Cradle Coast NRM was a proud partner and facilitator of the TassieCat initiative, Cradle Coast Cat Desexing Program and Cradle Coast Cat Enclosure Subsidy. Educational resources can still be found on the archived TassieCat website, with all other cat management enquiries to be forwarded to the Department of Natural Resources and Environment’s Invasive Species Branch below:

This project was supported by Cradle Coast NRM, Ten Lives and NRM North, through funding from the Tasmanian Government.
