Natural Capital Incentive Program
Natural Capital Incentive Program
Cradle Coast NRM is offering north-west Tasmanian farmers the opportunity to participate in Our Natural Advantage – Natural Capital Incentive Program.
Natural capital refers to the elements of the natural environment – such as soil, water, vegetation, and biodiversity – that support healthy functioning landscapes and play a direct role in farm productivity and business sustainability.
The program will support farmers to identify natural capital risks and opportunities for their property, with farm visits conducted by Cradle Coast NRM staff and a simple Natural Capital Assessment produced. There is funding available to support some participants to undertake practical actions to support farm productivity while also improving the condition of on-farm biodiversity.
Funding to support on-ground works will focus on the protection and enhancement of vegetation on farms as a practical action which can provide multiple on-going co-benefits to support farm profitability, capture and store greenhouse gas emissions, enhance biodiversity and adapt to climate change.
