In April 2026, Cradle Coast Authority held the Northwest Tasmania Housing Action and Work Accommodation Roundtable, an event that drew together some 50 people from a broad range of stakeholder groups to consider how the region can benefit from major projects and their accommodation requirements.
With attendance from State and local government, peak bodies, project proponents and utilities providers, and a keynote speech from the Honourable Kerry Vincent, Minister for Infrastructure, Transport, Planning, Local Government and Housing, the group looked at the state of housing across the region, considering impacts and benefits of upcoming planned investment projects.
The roundtable focused on establishing a more coordinated regional approach and mechanisms capable of aligning policy and accelerating delivery, and the purpose of this report is to provide a succinct context and develop our collective understanding of what immediate action is possible.
