Tasmania’s Cradle Coast Region is home to iconic species, natural landscapes and Tasmania’s Wilderness World Heritage Area. There are 20 diverse river catchments, fertile and productive agricultural land, and rich and extensive Aboriginal cultural landscapes.
As one of three natural resource management (NRM) organisations in Tasmania (and 54 in Australia), the role of Cradle Coast NRM is to protect, sustainably manage and improve natural resources by actively working with communities to ensure a healthy future for the region. Our work is guided by our 2030 NRM Strategy for Cradle Coast Tasmania and incorporates Biodiversity-themed action to protect and maintain the region’s high-value habitat for threatened species, important biodiversity areas and ecological communities.
We are currently recruiting for a Biodiversity Program Manager to oversee project teams and facilitate the development and delivery of a portfolio of biodiversity projects that aim to reduce threats and support the recovery of threatened species and ecological communities. This portfolio includes significant projects to support the urgent recovery of Giant Freshwater Crayfish and King Island threatened birds, as well as weeds strategic planning and delivery.
Key responsibilities include:
- Developing new Biodiversity Program proposals and projects, through effective stakeholder engagement and partnership development;
- Managing Biodiversity Program projects to a high standard;
- Facilitating the adoption of conservation action by providing key stakeholders such as private landholders, public land managers and community and industry groups with appropriate skills, knowledge and support through coordinated activities.
The position is offered on a permanent full-time basis with a base salary up to $95,000 per annum, dependent on the successful applicant’s knowledge, skills and abilities.
