Cradle Coast Authority (CCA) is seeking Expressions of Interest from suitably qualified and experienced individuals to join the Northwest Regional Economic Development Committee (NWREDC).
Background
The Cradle Coast Authority (CCA) is established under the Local Government Act by the nine Councils of western and north-western Tasmania to facilitate the sustainable development of the region, resolve regional issues and coordinate regional-scale activity.
CCA’s three operating functions are Shared Services, Natural Resource Management (NRM) and Regional Development.
Our work is guided by the CCA Council Representative’s Letter of Expectation (LoE), together with the Corporate Strategic Plan and 2030 NRM Strategy.
Role and functions of the NWREDC
The NWREDC is a strategic advisory committee of the CCA Board, established to provide regional intelligence, strategic advice and coordinated advocacy on matters that influence economic development across North West and West Tasmania. The Committee brings together individuals with diverse experience and perspectives to help identify opportunities, respond to emerging challenges and support a strong, sustainable regional economy. The Committee will:
- Identify emerging opportunities, challenges and risks affecting the regional economy.
- Promote collaboration and information sharing across government, industry, education and community sectors.
- Inform regional advocacy and contribute to a coordinated voice on key development priorities.
- Consider strategic issues affecting regional prosperity, including housing, workforce development, major industry projects, infrastructure and regional connectivity.
- Support the development of regional priorities and initiatives that strengthen the long-term economic resilience of North West and West Tasmania.
- Review applications for inclusion on the Regionally Important Projects (RIP) List and provide recommendations to the CCA Board.
The Committee’s areas of focus may include:
- Housing
- Workforce development and skills
- Energy and major industry developments
- Industry development and resilience
- Infrastructure and regional connectivity
- Health and education systems that support economic growth
- Barriers to workforce participation and regional prosperity
Membership
The NWREDC will comprise between five and eight members, including the Chair, supported by the CCA Chief Executive Officer as an ex-officio member. Members are appointed by the CCA Board.
Appointments are generally for a three-year term, with members eligible to apply for one additional term.
The Committee is expected to meet a minimum of four times per year and members are required to maintain active participation, including attendance at a minimum of 75% of meetings. Meetings may be attended in person or electronically.
Criteria
NWREDC is seeking members with experience, skills, knowledge and/or interests in one or more of the following areas:
- Housing / Construction
- Energy / Energy Infrastructure
- Small Business
- Tourism
- Mining and Manufacturing
- Education
- Social Development
- Primary Industries (Including Agriculture)
Members will have:
- an ability to contribute to, regional development – economic, environmental and social in the Region.
- capacity to offer independent advice, considering community views and expectations.
- well-developed thinking, communication and interpersonal skills.
- experience in collaboration and/or consensus building, community-based planning processes, networking, liaison, consultation, negotiation, conflict resolution and effective teamwork.
Selection Process
Appointments will be made through a merit-based selection process. Applications will be assessed against the skills, experience and attributes sought by the Committee. Shortlisted applicants may be invited to participate in an interview.
Successful candidates will be recommended to the CCA Board for appointment.

- Sector expertise and regional knowledge.
- Interest in contributing to the economic development of North West and West Tasmania.
- How you would contribute to the objectives of the NWREDC.
