Cradle Coast Authority (CCA) wishes to acknowledge and celebrate the significant contribution of outgoing Board Chair, the Hon. Sid Sidebottom, who is stepping down after eight years in the role.
Mr Sidebottom, appointed Chair in 2017, has been a committed advocate for the Cradle Coast region for decades, across local government, federal parliament, community organisations, and through his leadership of the CCA Board.
Across his eight years as Chair, Mr Sidebottom advocated for regional priorities through four state elections and three federal elections, ensuring the Cradle Coast’s needs and opportunities were clearly represented to decision makers.
During his tenure, Sid has guided CCA through a period of substantial change and strategic refocus. His steady and collaborative leadership was instrumental in navigating key organisational transitions, including the departure of Tourism from the CCA and a four-year period during which Burnie City Council was not a member.
Throughout these challenges, Mr Sidebottom worked tirelessly to keep member councils engaged in regional conversations and to ensure our organisation remained focused on long-term outcomes for the region.
One of Sid’s most recognised achievements is his leadership in advancing the Northwest Shared Coastal Pathway, a project that has become an example of what can be achieved when regional councils work together.
His commitment to improving liveability, connection, and regional identity has helped shape a legacy that will continue to benefit communities for generations.
Mr Sidebottom said it has been a privilege and a pleasure to serve as Chair.
“Cradle Coast Authority is a special organisation offering a regional approach to natural resource management, economic and social development, shared services, facilitation, and advocacy with and on behalf of its owner-partners and myriad funding organisations and levels of government”, he said.
The Cradle Coast Authority extends its sincere thanks to Mr Sidebottom for his years of dedication, regional leadership, and service to the people of the Cradle Coast.
Incoming Chair, Mr Ian Vanderbeek, will commence in the role from January 1, 2026.
