About the project

Cradle Coast NRM has been engaged by the Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation (CSIRO) to conduct soil chemistry, biology and physics samples at 49 pre-determined sites across the Cradle Coast region as part of the National Soil Monitoring Program.

The National Soil Monitoring Program is a $21.6 million Australian Government initiative designed to deliver Priority 1 of the National Soil Action Plan and support Goal 3 of the National Soil Strategy. Funded through the Natural Heritage Trust, the Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation (CSIRO) is working in partnership with the Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry (DAFF) to design and deliver the program.

Cradle Coast NRM, NRM North and NRM South have been engaged by CSIRO to conduct soil monitoring at pre-determined sites across Tasmania. The National Soil Monitoring program aims to establish Australia’s first National Soil Database, containing longitudinal data from 3,000 sites across Australia. Samples at each site will be recollected every five years across a span of twenty years to allow analysis of long-term trends.

Cradle Coast 2030 Strategy
