Cradle Coast Authority (CCA) received a RecFit Community Climate Change Action Grant to complete its first carbon baseline assessment for the 2024–25 financial year and to implement greenhouse gas reduction strategies, demonstrating their practical application to local small and medium-sized enterprises.
Professional carbon accounting services were engaged to quantify organisational Scope 1, 2 and 3 emissions for the 2024–25 financial year. CCA engaged 370 of its suppliers, enabling external stakeholders to learn through active participation, and undertook employee commuter and waste surveys. A total emissions footprint of 446 tonnes of CO₂-equivalent (t CO₂-e) was reported, with an emissions intensity of 0.071 kg CO₂-e per dollar of revenue. The carbon report was incorporated into the 2024–25 Annual Report and presented at the Annual General Meeting.
Greenhouse gas emission reduction strategies identified in the carbon audit were implemented across the organisation. Two public electric vehicle chargers were installed in the Portside Carpark, enabling co-located organisations to upgrade their fleet and personal vehicles.
This project was supported by the Tasmanian Government, Department of State Growth through the Community Climate Change Action Grants.
