Cradle Coast Authority (CCA) is pleased to announce the appointment of Ian Vanderbeek as the new Chair of the CCA Board.

Mr Vanderbeek is an accomplished senior executive and non-executive director with more than 40 years of international experience across the transport, logistics, and agriculture sectors. His extensive leadership background includes serving as Managing Director, Chief Executive Officer, and Independent Director in Australia, the United States, Europe, Asia, and the Pacific.

Cradle Coast Authority CEO Philip Reid said Mr Vanderbeek’s appointment brings a valuable mix of strategic leadership, governance experience, and commercial insight to the organisation.

“Ian’s global perspective and extensive board experience across government, listed and privately held companies will be a great asset to CCA as we continue to deliver on our regional priorities and strengthen collaboration across north-west and western Tasmania,” Mr Reid said.

Mr Vanderbeek said he looked forward to supporting the organisation’s work across the region.

“Cradle Coast Authority plays a critical role in advancing sustainable economic growth and prosperity across the region,” said Mr Vanderbeek. “I regard economic development not simply as financial progress, but as a strategic driver for stronger communities, expanded opportunities, and improved quality of life.

My involvement as a Board member of Metro Tasmania and TasRail has provided valuable insight into the transport and infrastructure priorities shaping the Cradle Coast region. This experience reinforces my commitment to advocating for initiatives that deliver enduring value for communities, industry, and stakeholders alike.”

Mr Vanderbeek is recognised for his strategic thinking, analytical capability and collaborative leadership style. He has a strong record of delivering results in complex and regulated environments and is known for building high-performing, diverse teams that achieve meaningful outcomes.

Most recently, he served as President of Airline Operations for U.S.-based Southern Airways Express and now consults across multiple sectors while serving as a Non-Executive Director on several government and private boards. He holds a Bachelor of Business and is a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.

The Cradle Coast Authority thanks outgoing Chair, the Hon. Sid Sidebottom, for his leadership and invaluable contributions to the region. CCA will recognise Sid’s service to the organisation at the upcoming Annual General Meeting on Wednesday, 3 December at 9.30 am.

Mr Vanderbeek will commence in the role on 1 January 2026.
