Mr. Philip Reid, Acting General Manager of Norfolk Island Regional Council, has been appointed as the new CEO of the Cradle Coast Authority (CCA). He will succeed Sheree Vertigan AM in early September 2025.
Chair of the CCA Board, Mr. Sid Sidebottom, said that Mr. Reid was chosen from a strong field of applicants.
Prior to his work on Norfolk Island, Mr. Reid had spent 20 years working in a variety of fields associated with environmental affairs and law, as well as holding several managerial and project management roles across a variety of government, industrial, and corporate sectors, particularly in New South Wales.
Mr. Reid holds qualifications in Environmental Law, Environmental Science and Management, as well as Business and Public Sector Management, Training and Assessment, and as an Auditor. He also has extensive experience in community networking and stakeholder relations.
“Philip was clearly interested and informed about CCA and our region and was drawn to the role because of the unique nature of CCA and its potential to work with its owners and other significant stakeholders to make our region an even better place in which to invest, learn, live, work, and recreate” Mr. Sidebottom said.
Mr. Reid said the potential to make a positive impact for the region and its councils, as well as the diversity of work with which the organisation engages, is what drew him to the role.
“I’m excited to be working with the CCA staff, Member Councils, and the many regional community and business organisations on some exciting initiatives such as the potential renewable energy future, and to build on the strong foundation that Sheree has established as outgoing CEO.”
“As new residents to the area, my family and I look forward to exploring West/Northwest Tasmania and becoming part of the community. We are lovers of the outdoors, and the region offers so much for people like us.” Mr. Reid said.
“Phil and his family have subsequently visited the region and are looking forward to making Cradle Coast their new home as quickly as possible,” Mr. Sidebottom said.
Mr. Sidebottom also paid tribute to the excellent work of outgoing CEO Sheree Vertigan AM.
“Sheree’s 4-year stint has been outstanding both in terms of leading our staff internally and externally promoting, enhancing, and expanding CCA’s role throughout the region and statewide. Her legacy is profound and greatly admired and appreciated,” Mr. Sidebottom said.
