NW REGIONAL ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT COMMITTEE RETURNS TO FULL MEMBERSHIP

The Northwest Regional Economic Development Committee (NWREDC) has welcomed a full cohort of members, with the refreshed Committee meeting later this month for the first time.

Chair Mr Andrew Kneebone said, “The Northwest region of Tasmania is entering a period of significant opportunity, and this committed group of people acting as a united voice is well placed to help the region make the most of it.”

Our members bring deep experience, strong local knowledge and a shared commitment to supporting sustainable economic growth. I’m looking forward to working as a committee and with our member councils to provide clear, coordinated strategies that strengthen outcomes for our communities.”

The NWREDC provides strategic advice, regional intelligence and coordinated advocacy to support economic development across Northwest and West Tasmania. Key regional issues for the group include housing, workforce development and skills, major energy and mining developments, industry and sector growth, public infrastructure and regional connectivity, and the health and education systems that underpin economic participation.

The Committee will work to identify emerging opportunities and risks and strengthen regional coordination and offers an important and consistent regional voice on development priorities and required actions. Members contribute insight, represent stakeholder interests, and support strategic initiatives while adhering to CCA policies and confidentiality requirements.

The NWREDC advises the CCA Board, reviews significant regional projects, and helps shape annual work planning. Current membership of the NWREDC includes:

The Committee will meet for the first time as a newly invigorated group before the end of October 2026.
