As part of our Community NRM Engagement Program, Cradle Coast NRM works alongside volunteer groups who use best practice methods to protect our natural resources.
From on-ground work and monitoring to education and awareness, volunteers play an important role in protecting the natural assets that make the Cradle Coast unique. Ensuring these volunteers are well supported, confident and safe while carrying out their work is a key part of our commitment to strong community-led natural resource management.
As part of this commitment, Cradle Coast NRM is pleased to offer support to help build essential skills within community groups through our First Aid sponsorships.
The program provides funding for community volunteers to undertake accredited first aid, CPR, and emergency life support training with registered training providers. These skills are critical for groups working in outdoor and often remote environments, where preparedness and the ability to respond quickly can make a significant difference.
The program is open to Landcare, Coastcare, Aboriginal, ‘Friends of’ groups and other community organisations that are actively engaged in natural resource management projects across the Cradle Coast region. Funding is available for accredited training for up to two people per organisation, helping groups strengthen their capacity while continuing to deliver meaningful on-ground outcomes.
Applications open on Tuesday 27 January 2026, with all funded training to be completed by 30 June 2026. Sponsorships will be allocated based on eligibility and order of application, until available funding is fully allocated. Eligible training units include:
- HLTAID009 – Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation
- HLTAID010 – Provide Basic Emergency Life Support
- HLTAID011 – Provide First Aid
This initiative reflects Cradle Coast NRM’s broader approach to supporting community-led action, investing not only in projects but also in the people who make them happen.
